Hempshill’s Whole School Approach to Mental Health
As a school community we are making a collaborative effort to prioritise mental health and wellbeing. This will undoubtedly impact the entire school community in terms of behaviour, relationships, attendance and attainment. Our curriculum provides opportunities to practice resilience and social and emotional learning and adopts a positive focus on the wellbeing of all children.
We have enrolled a Mental Health Support Team Wellbeing Practitioner, Megan Britton, to work with staff, children and parents to ensure our children are well equipped and educated with their own mental health. Megan will be delivering assemblies and workshops across school and working with individual children or groups of children as well as offering a flexible lunch time club for children who may be struggling with anxiety or low mood.
As a school we are very excited to start this “whole school approach” with the support of the Mental Health Support Team and look forward to seeing the benefits in the day to day life of our pupils!
