Foundation 2 Summer 1 2026

Welcome back to school after the Easter break!

We have planned an exciting and busy half term through the topic of ‘Fantastic Food.’ We will be reading and enjoying a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books about a variety of food, where our food comes from and what makes a healthy and balanced diet.

We will focus more heavily on ‘The Gingerbread Man’ and ‘The Enormous Turnip’ as our key texts. The children will spend time reading, acting out and learning to re-tell the story with their friends. They will learn about the farm animals that we find in the story and we will be writing our own recipe to bake gingerbread people. When reading The Enormous Turnip, we will think about pushes and pulls that feature in our everyday life. We will taste a wide variety of vegetables, learning about how they grow and even making vegetable soup!
